Planters with Up Lighting
s

s

Spotlights fitted within the planter can be angled up to illuminate large plants, bushes and trees several meters above the planter surface - this is referred to as "up lighting". LED emitters rated at 1, 3 or 5 Watts are equipped with 5, 15, 25 or 45 degree collimating lenses to send a narrow beam of white or coloured light to illuminate the chosen feature high above the planter. The layout of the planting can conceal the light sources to enhance the effect.

The picture right shows two up lights throwing warm white light onto the leafy plant. The small privet bushes are not illuminated at all.

There are two uplights used here to show the difference between warm and cool white. The warm white is quite yellow and angled in from the bottom right of the picture. The cool white has much more blue and is pointing straight up from the base of the plant.

Uplighting used in combination with side lighting.
