Street Design is pleased to announce new designs of plinth lighting for its illuminated planters. Our plinth lighting is based on LEDs and is available in warm and cool white, standard LED colours, and RGB strips that allow almost any colour to be mixed.

Plinth lighting can also be specified for one or more sides (or arcs) of a planter and at any power level between 1 Watt per meter and 40 Watts per meter. Our standard plinth light is warm white and operates at 6 Watts per meter and provides a noticeable light up to one meter from the edge of the planter (though this depends on ambient lighting levels and the reflectivity of the ground surface).

Even in full sunlight our plinth lighting remains noticeable because of the planter's own shadow.

With integrated lighting-array recesses and built-in cable looms any combination of lighting effects can be custom-installed during manufacture to precisely match the site requirements. All of our lighting effects can be preset (just an on/off switch) or adjustable (using PWM dimmers either locally or remotely).

Our plinth lighting can be used in a conventional way to surround the planter with ambient white light at ground level, for public safety and convenience, but it can also be used to add a splash of colour as part of the overall lighting scheme. Used in conjunction with our other lighting effects it can become an integral part of the statement you are working to produce.

The steel planters in these pictures are lit by a combination of RGB downlighters recessed in the edging, plant lighting concealed within the planter body and plinth lighting.
