GILTBROOK PLANTER |
Bespoke iroko hardwood and stainless steel planter
Street Design worked with Macgregor Smith, landscape architects, to develop the bespoke planters for the Giltbrook retail park, in Nottinghamshire. The slatted walling sides were curved on elevation and incorporated a tubular stainless steel top and bottom rail. Because of the close proximity of the car parking, a central box section stainless steel “rubbing” rail was introduced. The curved walling butts up to a 120x8mm stainless steel upright and there are 95x95mm section iroko hardwood corner fillets. The planters were on a galvanised mild steel frame that incorporated adjustable feet, lifting channels and tree anchor points. The iroko hardwood was left natural, to reduce the on-going maintenance costs and the stainless steel had a brushed finish.

Bespoke urban, iroko hardwood and bronze planters
Street Design worked with Leeds City Council, to develop the bespoke planters for Millennium Square, in Leeds. The design of the planter was created by Leeds City Council and Street Design assisted with the manufacture process. They included an internal steel frame to allow the planters to be moved whilst fully planted. The timber side walls were constructed from 70x70mm section iroko to create a see-through lattice with sheet bronze able to be seen through the 70x70mm holes. The planter incorporated a 15mm thick bronze top and a folded sheet bronze plinth. The iroko hardwood was stained white and the bronze had a patination solution applied.

WINDERMERE PLANTER |
Galvanised steel and green slate planters

Capita Symonds, landscape architects, specified bespoke planters, based on our Ashford planter, for a traffic calming scheme in the centre of the Windermere. The planter frames were to incorporate a “tree of life” motif that is found on a number of timber framed buildings in the town centre. The inner walling panels were to be local green slate and after a number of considerations, Westmoreland Green slate was chosen for the planters. The planter frames were hot dip galvanised, then polyester powder coated black and the green slate had a honed finish. The planter frames included adjustable feet.
