WHITE CITY BENCH
s Specially designed timber and galvanised steel outdoor benches
s
Street Design worked with the project architects and landscape architects to develop the seating for a new office development at the White City, in London. The scheme involved two different seat designs and three bench designs. The seating was fixing onto concrete plinths, cast on site. One of the seats and the three bench designs were installed in courtyards between the new buildings. The other seat design was installed into private garden areas to the rear of the office complex. The material was specified as FSC western red cedar with galvanised mild steel end plates and support brackets. The seating incorporated lighting that was fixed to the underside of the galvanised mild steel brackets. The products were developed, manufactured and installed by Street Design.

TORRIDON BENCH

Indoor, hardwood and polished granite, free standing bench
s
Street Design was consulted about the seating for the refurbishment, of the Queensgate Shopping Centre, in Peterborough. The conceptual design was created by Benoy Architects and Street Design was asked to come up with a suitable solution for the indoor seating. The result was a number of bespoke seats manufactured in granite, with iroko hardwood seat backs. There were three different designs: a single sided seat with backrest and no arms, a double sided seat with double sided backrest and no arms and a double sided seat with double sided backrest with arms. The seats were all surface mounted. The granite used was Royal White, white granite with black specs, with iroko hardwood backrests. The granite was polished and the iroko hardwood was left natural. For this type of seating a number of other natural stone materials are available, including granite, limestone and slate. The type of seating is available without the backrest and can be supplied as a bench with or without the armrests.

PORK PIE BENCH
Hardwood, softwood and galvanised steel Pork Pie outdoor bench
s
Street Design was asked to develop a Pork Pie bench, by Melton Borough Council, for installation in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. The conceptual design was created by a school pupil, after Melton Council run a competition, to come up with ideas to improve and promote the town. Street Design was commissioned to develop and manufacture the bespoke bench, working on the pupils conceptual ideas. The solution was to create a pie based on our circular planters with shaped sides. The top had a domed crust with crimped outer ring. Extended mild steel brackets were extended out from the pie to support the radial circular bench. The iroko hardwood bench slats were left natural, to contrast with the finish of the pie section. The iroko hardwood was stained with 3 coats of water based, mid brown stain and the galvanised mild steel frame was polyester powder coated, mid brown. The bench was designed, developed and manufactured by Street Design, for installation by the landscape contractor.
